The challenge

  • Epic cross-border ride from Bosnia to Montenegro through wild mountains and deep river canyons
  • Cycle from Sarajevo’s alpine heights to the shores of Skadar Lake
  • Follow the dramatic Drina River and conquer long mountain climbs through remote landscapes
  • Visit the iconic Ostrog Monastery, carved into sheer rock walls
  • Cycle by Skadar Lake, one of the largest bird reserves in Europe and home to the Dalmatian pelican

Over this 5 day cycling challenges you will cover daily distances ranging from 50kms to over 80kms and climbs of up to 1250m. 

As the days progress and you cross into Montenegro, the landscape shifts from rugged mountain scenery to gentler terrain. Passing through dramatic canyons, you gradually descend toward the capital Podgorica. The journey culminates in a magical ride by Skadar Lake—a haven for wildlife and one of the region’s most scenic cycling areas. Expect winding panoramic roads, Mediterranean landscapes, and iconic viewpoints such as Rijeka Crnojevića.

This adventure combines demanding cycling with rich cultural encounters and unforgettable natural beauty. From high mountain passes to tranquil lakeshores, it’s a journey that captures the raw essence of the Balkans—rewarding every climb with views that make the effort worthwhile.
